Nationwide Insurance is creating a driver based auto insurance program. The program requires a small device which would measure and report driving data to be placed in the customer’s vehicle. A program name, identity, packaging and copyrighting as well as design for agent -level marketing materials were needed to start the pilot program. The package needed to deliver simple, self-installation instructions to the user. I worked on a small team to provide these deliverable by cooperating with the NWI marketing, print procurement, in-house photo studio and executive team. The packaging form and die cut was a custom slide-out design, revealing the instruction booklet.

Life|ware is a home automation suite which combines a media center running proprietary software with an array of wifi enabled appliances and online/smart phone support to create the truly 21rst century home. I developed marketing materials, trade show graphics, promotional mailers, and consulted on GUI as well as illustrating icon sets for the software.

The Wexner Center presents many film series, some of which benefit from targeted advertising promotions such as this one. These pieces are an exercise in the creation of visual harmony as they often include a very large variety of subject matter and styles. A strong information hierarchy and consistent graphic pallet are needed to thread these varied pieces of content into one cohesive mailer.

The Wexner Center presents many films per year so a monthly film/video calendar   including curation notes and extra info was developed. This mailer was set to use a rotating series of three palettes of 2  colors in which the color mixed with black produce a wide range of design effects while keeping production cost low. This reductive palette also served to visually homogenize the broad variety of material which might be featured in a single months mailer.

The grid system used was shuffled monthly in order to create visual hierarchy and order. I worked on this series from 2006 to 2007. Click thru for larger images.

The Wexner Center offers a summer seminar for teens which teaches them about self expression through film, graphic arts and music. The booklet serves as advertisement through participating school programs and includes a sign up form as well as including indicia area included on the back page for direct mail imprinting. I worked on this project for 2 years running and it was important that it resonate as a series while still appearing new and fresh for the current year. CHALLENGES:
This project was an exercise in integration as there were many limitations on what could be implemented through the software programming. This entire document is designed as an MS word template which contains variable fields populated by the mortgage program. All output of the populated document to printable PDF and online version were automated within the programming.
